On June 1-2, UN Armenia Office together with the International Federation of Cyclists, Amateur Cycling and Sport Tourism are celebrating World Bicycle Day.
The celebration of the Day aims to raise public awareness of a bicycle as a sustainable means of transportation, fostering health, strengthening education, facilitating social inclusion, as well as calls for actions to improve road safety by integrating bicycle in transport infrastructure planning and design.
Within the celebrations a number of cycling events will take place in Yerevan:
All interested people, men, women and children are welcome to show their readiness and contribute for cleaner, greener Yerevan.
Acknowledging the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, the General Assembly proclaimed 3rd of June as the World Bicycle Day by its A/RES/72/272 resolution.
World Bicycle Day is being celebrated worldwide since 2018.
