Armenia has initiated a side event on Inovation
The 2017 High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be held from 10-19 July at UN Headquarters in New York. The Political Forum, United Nations central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, provides for the full and effective participation of all States Members of the United Nations and States members of specialized agencies.
This year, the theme of the Forum will be “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world” with Goals 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 and 14 to be reviewed in depth.
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Goal 17 (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development) will be reviewed every year.
More than 40 countries (including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cyprus, Tajikistan, etc.), both developed and developing countries, will present their Voluntary National Reviews, an overview of their plans to achieve the Goals at the 3 day ministerial meeting from 17 to 19 July.
This year Armenia is not among countries presenting their voluntary National Reviews. However, on July 10 and 13 the country will participate in side events:
On July 10
“Eurasian Economic Integration till 2025 and SDG 2030: Aligning Agendas” by Permanent Mission of Kyrgyzstan to the United nations together with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russian and Eurasian Economic Commission
On July 13
Impact Investment and Innovations for SDGs by Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN in collaboration with UNDP

On 1 January, 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at an historic UN Summit - officially came into force. Till 2030, with these new Goals that universally apply to all, countries will mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
