On June 29,2016 the Prime Minister's “Best Woman Entrepreneur 2016” 'award ceremony took place at the Redison Blue Hotel. On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister Vache Gabrielyan welcomed the participants and presented the prizes. The event is organized under the patronage of the Prime Minister with the support of the Ministry of Economy. The preparation and conduction of the event was handled by the “SME Development National Center” Foundation.
The main objective of the contest is encouraging entrepreneurial activities and initiatives of women in economic development of the Republic of Armenia, and supporting the achievements of women entrepreneurs in various sectors of the economy. The contest has been organized since 2012.
The 2016 awards were suggested in 6 categories:
United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Armenia participates in this award since 2013. In 2016 UNIDO has nominated 5 prizes for outstanding business women in different sectors of production and businesses. While delivering the prizes, the Head of UNIDO Operations in Armenia Anahit Simonyan said that the dedication and efforts undertaken by women in the organization of business, overcoming obstacles by themselves, acquiring business skills and knowledge and passing them to the young generation, are invaluable.
2016 UNIDO prize winners are:
Ruzan Melikbekyan – Tavush, v. Achajour
Field of activity: production of pastries. The businesswoman had previously been involved in home baking, and having many customers decided to open a small workshop. It is planning to make more than 10 types of pastries.
Nektar Manukova – “Signum” LLC
Field of activity: the advisory services, design, creation and development of free economic and industrial zones. This initiative allows joint activities around the world, thus providing an additional global value chain creation of products and services in free economic zones. As a result of the well-coordinated activities of the organization International Congress of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Armenia was held in the spring of this year, where “Yerevan Agreement" was signed between the Congress and the Eurasian Economic Union " as positive steps for the exporters of the Eurasian Economic Union countries.
Anahit Mkrtchyan - P/E, Yerevan
Field of activity: Manufacture of shoes. The company produces leather shoes for men and women of middle-income, is specialized in the production in feminine modern / stylish shoe, men's slippers, classic shoes and boots. It is planned to expand the specialization. The product bears the brand PapiTa.
Hasmik Khachatryan – P/E, Shirak, v. Arevik
Field of activity: sewing workshop. Garment shop, home interior textile manufacture, textile sale of a large range available in the market at the most affordable prices, sewing for individual orders.
Amalia Hakhverdyan – P/E, Tavush, c. Dilijan
Field of activity: guesthouse (B&B), mainly due to the more than four years experience in this field, beautiful villa position, located in the countryside, in the central part of the city and inter-state road adjacent to the hotel's facilities. Important factor is that clients are mainly foreigners who are pleased to get direct contact with the hosting family, have an opportunity to prepare their favorite dishes by themselves, and a number of other leisure activities, such as dance trainings, exchange of experience in bakery, etc.
