Welcome to the UN Reference Library
UN Reference Library is housed on the first floor of the UN Office in Armenia. It was opened in 1995 by the UN Department of Public Information (UN DPI). The UN resident agencies took an active part in developing of this important information component.
The main stock of the Library collection consists of the UN system materials and information documents. Electronic database of the UN Reference Library exceeds 6000 titles of books, serials, videocassettes, audiotapes, CDs and DVDs in some UN working languages and in Armenian. It is always updated by new materials received from the UN Headquarters and new local publications of the UN agencies. The stock of the library also includes a wide range of books and materials of various international organizations, local governmental and non-governmental institutions as well as special donations.

The Library has a rich photo archive (both digital and hard copies) as well dating back to 1993. It comprises of chronological history of all UN agencies working and/or having worked in Armenia. It also documents the visits of high-ranking UN Officials to Armenia and to UN Armenia Office. Armenia’s participation to the United Nations is also reflected in this archive.
The UN Reference library serves as a quick reference for all UN staff members in their daily activities. Groups of school children and students as well as teachers and different specialists have an opportunity to visit the library, be acquainted with the latest information about the UN, watch video films and receive necessary briefings on United Nations current events. Besides, the Library regularly disseminates UN materials to local authorities, civil society organizations , libraries and educational institutions of various cities, towns and communities of the Republic of Armenia. For this purpose a network of "Friends of the United Nations" has been established which includes schools, higher educational institutions, NGOs, libraries, other civil society groups. Those included in this network receive not only hard copies of UN publications but also electronic news and information via e-mail.
Wide range of thematic exhibitions and activities (meetings, round-tables, trainings, discussions, screenings and others) are also organized in the library.
