This Compilation of United Nations Selected International Instruments on Human Rights besides including the documents of the previous three editions has incorporated additional instruments enriching its contents and giving the publication a more complete look.
It includes in it several United Nations international instruments on Human Rights. Those treaties which have entered into force in Armenia have an asterisk and a note at the end of each given document.
The official translations of the documents included in this book are kindly provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. The UN Department of Public Information Yerevan Office’s and other non-official translations are marked respectively.
This publication titled "Everything you Always Wanted to Know about the United Nations" is prepared by United Nations Headquarters especially for students at intermediate and secondary levels. The information within is very comprehensive and can be easily used by general public. The translation of the Armenian version is prepared by UNO/DPI Yerevan Office.
United Nations observances are used to contribute to the achievement of the purposes of the UN Charter and promote awareness of and action upon, important political, social, cultural, humanitarian or human rights issues. They provide a useful means for the promotion of international and national action and stimulate interest in United Nations activities and programmes. For international years and decades the UN Secretary General takes action to establish preparatory process, evaluation and follow-up procedures. The majority of observances have been established by the UN General Assembly and some have been designated by UN specialized agencies.
